4 Tips on Drinking Water

We all know that drinking water is important helps in making us "healthier" but why?

Drinking more water helps in balancing body fluids.  Our bodies are made up of about 60% water; the functions on these fluids include creation of saliva, maintaining body temperature and transportation of nutrients.  Drinking water also improves your skin giving you a "glow."

Unfortunately, there's not a set number for everyone to drink.  The recommended amount is HALF your weight in ounces of water.  I know that this is not an easy task without adding some artificial sweeteners or flavoring it with something like Mio or Crystal Light.  These packets and additives are not good for you.

So now that we know how much water we should be drinking everyday, let's answer how we're going to be able to drink all of that water.  Anything over 100 ounces of water really seems impossible to consume at first but with a few tweaks you'll be drinking your necessary amount in no time.

1. Drink 1-2 (8-24 ounces) cups of water before every meal.  Now that's 8-16 ounces.  By doing this you'll have consumed at least 24 ounces with meals.  Doing this also allows you to become fuller faster keeping you from over eating.

2. Drink one glass of water in the morning and before bed!  This is another 16 ounces that you get to knock out.  I like to keep a glass of water or water bottle by my bed stand.  This way I am able to drink my water before even having a sip of coffee.

3. Add flavors in your water!  Nothing artificial but add some strawberries, lemons, limes or herbs to your water!  There's an endless list of recipes!  You can even make ahead of time and keep in the fridge!

4. Drink sparkling water.  Sparkling water with natural (REAL) fruit essence is a healthy alternative to soda/pop!  My favorite brand is La Croix and found by the water.  I enjoy the coconut sparkling water with fresh pineapple.  (Thank me later!)

I hope that these tips have helped you in consuming enough water!
